Glenn East Obituary

Mr. Glenn East age 89 of Ft Worth died Monday April 4 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be 1pm Friday April 8 under the Pavilion of Bogata Cemetery with Mr. Benny Cogburn officiating. Burial will be in Bogata Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Wood Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Mr. East was born July 16, 1921 in Red River County the son of J.C. and Roxie Cody East. He graduated from Bogata High School in 1940 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1942 serving three and a half years, mostly in England and France. He participated in the invasion of France on "D-Day". He advanced to Staff Sergeant and was crew chief on an A26 plane. On June 23, 1950 he married the former Mary Fleming in Bogata. Together they were blessed with one daughter Karen. He was a member of Altamesa Church of Christ in Ft Worth. After graduating from East Texas State University with a BBA degree, he worked for the State in the ADC program for children. He then was employed by Employers Casualty Company as an adjuster. He was promoted to District Claims Manager in Odessa and area covering most of west Texas and retired after 37 years. The last five years before retiring he worked only negotiating settlements with trial lawyers. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Leon, Kenneth, Lucille and Mildred. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary East, a daughter Karen Brahn and husband Mark and one granddaughter Michelle Brahn, all of Ft. Worth. Glenn was a dedicated, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
