James Doyle Norwood

James Doyle Norwood age 82 of Cunningham, Texas went to be with the

Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was

born on September 30, 1936 to Almer and Alma Baker Norwood.

James was a farmer, rancher, auctioneer and an avid domino player. He was

the manager of the Cunningham Co-Op Gin for 35 years. He served the Lord as a

deacon and music director at Cunningham Baptist Church. James was a dedicated

member of his church and community; he helped the Texas Baptist men build the

church, was the fire chief, and was overseer of the Cunningham water supply for

numerous years. He was on the Prairiland ISD school board and also served as

president of Producers Compress in McKinney, Texas. . James enjoyed hunting with

his brothers, golfing, roping, playing dominos and attending any type of sporting

event.

He married Patsy Lee Winters on April 5, 1958 in Pattonville, Texas. They

celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. James is survived by his wife, two sons

and a daughter: Rodney Norwood of Cunningham, Tracy Norwood and wife DeeDee

of Novice, Mendy Cole and husband Todd of Pattonville. They have eight

grandchildren: Jase Norwood and wife Beth, Brenton Norwood and wife Erica, Erika

Norwood Strain and husband Kris, Lacie Cole Dixon and husband Regan, Hanah

Norwood Glass and husband Bryan, Kelby Cole, Tristen Norwood, Korbyn Norwood,

Jason Evans and wife Gabrielle, Gilly Flautt and wife Celeste, and Alex Flautt. Great

grandchildren: Adrianna and Caden Evans, Audria Strain, Ronica Norwood, Ava

Norwood, Roan Ingram, and Hayes Dixon. Three brothers, two sister in laws, and

one sister: Geneva Norwood, Darold Norwood and wife Ida Mae, Deloris Norwood,

Talma Norwood and wife MaryAnna, Danny Norwood and Cindy Nichols and

husband Charles. Two brothers in law: James Wallace Winters and wife Katy, Bobby

Winters and wife Betty.

His parents and two brothers preceded him in death: Eugene and Canard

Norwood.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Life

Tabernacle Church in Cunningham, Texas. Funeral services will be Monday,

December 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Life Tabernacle Church with Frankie Norwood

and Richard Tatum officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Cunningham

under the direction of Wood Funeral Home of Deport.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Scotty Norwood, Ricky Norwood, Brandon

Oats, Clint Norwood, Jon White, Dameon White, Michael Winters, Doug Winters, Kip

Winters, and Wes Winters. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Buddy Taylor, Bill Page,

Leslie Taylor, Billy Ray Oats, Jerrod Bankhead, Ronnie Baker, Charlie Baker, Charles

Nichols, and Bobby Ray Kennedy.
