Janie Lee (Powell) Martin

Janie Lee Martin of Bogata, Texas “got her purse” and went with the angels to meet her Lord and Savior Tuesday morning, October 8, 2019.  She was born in Fulbright, Texas on April 4, 1934 to W.B. an Lena (Slusher) Powell.

Janie was a devoted christian, wife and mother. She was a member of the Bogata Missionary Baptist Church. Loving and nurturing her children and to others she helped to raise were her greatest delights, she taught them to work and raise gardens and then reap the harvest and preserve fruits of their labor by canning. She was a seamstress and she has sewn for most everyone in Bogata at one time or another.  Janie loved life and being able to go and do until her health began to fail.

Left to cherish her memory is her children, Sherri Allums and her husband Ronald of Hurst, Texas, Marti Kuhle of Bogata, Texas, and Hayden Martin and his wife Vicki of Marshall, Texas; grandchildren, Nicholas Allums and Kayla, Brian Allums and Kari, April Wilhite and Brad, Ashley Coffman and Bobby, Brooke Cummings and Colton, Dakota Martin and Kailyn, Hunter Martin and Kyndall Martin; great grandchildren; Carsyn and Luke Allums, Blake and Braden Giles, Kamden and Madilyn Jeffrey, Ava, Jadx and Coston Cummings and Kyler Martin.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Earl Martin, infant twins, Ronald and Roland Martin; son-in-law, Carl Kuhle; her sisters, Joann Kennedy and Sue Hart.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday October 10, 2019 at the Johntown Missionary Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at the Shamrock Cemetery in Clarksville, Texas.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
