Lavanda Lea Merritt of Paris, Texas passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 82 years of age. She was born to Samuel Millard and Clarice (Farrar) Blackburn on November 02, 1936 in Geronimo, Oklahoma.
She was a 20-year employee of Jemasco Bark and Soil Products, a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Blossom and the Altrusa Club. Lavanda loved cake decorating and competing with her cakes. She decorated wedding cakes for Paris Bridal and Catering.
Left to cherish her memory is her children, Ginger Farmer of Reno, Texas, David Merritt and his wife Kelly of Paris, Texas, Jeff Merritt and his wife Sandra of Paris, Gerry Nell and Alan Perdue of Powderly and Leah Merritt Hoss of Paris and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Carl and Cindy Blackburn of Lawton, Oklahoma and Elsie June Hill of Rogers, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Ronny Merritt, grandson, Riley Merritt and her siblings, Clarence Blackburn, Loyce Blackburn West and Sam Blackburn.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Paris. Interment was at the Bogata Cemetery in Bogata, Texas.
