It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of April Nicole Elrod of Bogata, Texas. She had family and friends at her side when she passed on January 15th 2022 at the age of 39.
April was beautiful inside and out. She was incredibly smart and had a thirst for knowledge that could never be quenched. She found great joy in reading, writing, listening to music, and experiencing nature. She had the most wonderful soul any of us could ever have the honor of knowing.
She loved her family, her friends, and finding beautiful things hidden in plain sight.
She loved her daughters more than anything else in the world.
Left to cherish her memory are her life companion Cory Marr, and her two daughters, Aurora and Gwyndolyn Smith and their father, Chris Smith; her mother and dad Patricia and Laurence Plaster; maternal grandmother, Pastor Ethel Elrod all of Bogota, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Kristen and Julian Monasterio of Paris, Texas. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, William “Top” Elrod.
“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” This was a quote from one of April and Kristen’s favorite series, Harry Potter. April would want us all to keep the light on in her memory and rejoice with happiness any time we think of her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Wood-Haggard Funeral Home Chapel in Bogata, Texas. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
