Betty Dodd Obituary

Betty Ann Dodd, 87, of Bogata, TX passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on February 9, 2022 in Paris, TX. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 2PM at the Bogata Cemetery Pavilion under the direction of Wood-Haggard Funeral Home.

Betty was born December 27, 1934 in Johntown, TX to C. W. & Gertie Vaughan Morris. She married James (Jim) H Williams October 22, 1947. Together they would have four children, Robert, Anna, Sharon and baby girl Williams. Later she would marry Jerry Dodd. Betty worked at various factory jobs throughout her life until she reached her lifelong dream of becoming an RN. She was Director of Nursing at Red River Haven for many years. During her nursing career Jerry & Betty would move to Monte Vista, Colorado. She loved Colorado and talked about it often, but they later returned to Texas to be closer to family.

Betty is survived by her daughter Anna & Gary Moore of Cuthand, TX. Daughter-in-law Teresa Williams of Bogata, TX. Sharon Davis of Eagletown, OK.; Grandchildren include, Douglas & Marlyn Moore, Ronald Moore, Denise & William Dixon, Sabrina & Brian Fuchs, Duree & Chance Crawford, Dara Roberson, Dana & James Bailey, Angela DeBerry, Gail & Jerry McCoy; twenty-one great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and her furry companion Buddy Dodd.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her children’s father, Jim Williams; her husband, Jerry Dodd; an infant daughter; her son, Robert Williams; and brother, Charlie Morris; as well as her furry companions Angel Dodd and Bob Dodd.

“God saw that she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around her and said, “Come with me”, with tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating; hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Although her heart stopped beating, her love will always remain. Her absence puts upon our hearts a very heavy strain, for now she is in a place of everlasting rest. We just have to understand that God, He only takes the best.”
