Billie Ruth (Bain) Briggs

Billie Ruth Bain Pirtle Briggs of Bogata, Texas passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 76 years.  She was born on October 7, 1944 in Deport, Texas to W.R. (Bill) and Mildred (Sales) Bain.

Billie attended Johnstown Elementary School and graduated from Bogata High School in 1962. She accepted the Lord as her personal savior in 1957 and became a member of the Johntown Missionary Baptist Church; later she moved her membership to the Bogata Missionary Baptist Church.

Billie worked in the insurance business and banking until 1990. She was a devoted wife and a mother; her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. She loved volunteering, reading, traveling, and gospel and country concerts.  

In 1962 she married J.B. (Bo) Harville, and to that union two sons were born. She later married H. Drue Pirtle in 1988, and in July 2017 she married Thomas Briggs.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Briggs of Bogata, Texas; her sons, Brian and Robin Harville of Johntown, Texas, Jeff and Kelley Harville of Bogata, Texas, Thomas Dale and Tonya Briggs of New Boston, Texas; her grandchildren, Kyla Harville, Jesse and Susie Harville, Jacob Harville, Kristen Harville, Chris Briggs, and Cheyanne and Wesley Betts; Great grandchildren, Rockston, Baylor and Major Ellis, Rylee Briggs, Emi, and Olie Betts. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Pat Horn, and a great-grandchild, Waylon Harville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Bogata Missionary Baptist Church in Bogata, Texas.  A private interment will follow at the Bogata Cemetery.

Masks will be required for the service.
