Billie Garrison Obituary

Billie Lorene Garrison (known to so many as Mrs. Garrison), passed away peacefully in her sleep April 28th, 2024. Mrs. Garrison was born Billie Lorene Fryar in Paris, Texas on August 24, 1932, to Jack (Lokey) and Rhodie Fryar. Mrs. Garrison graduated from Paris High School in the class of 1950...moving on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Cisco College in 1955. Billie married the love of her life, Richard, on August 10th, 1956. They moved to Bogata, Texas, later building their home and foundation in Rosalie, Texas in 1962. Billie proceeded to teach three generations of local children in the same first-grade classroom until her retirement. Mrs. Garrison completed her Master’s degree in Education at East Texas University at Commerce while educating our local children, and was voted Who's Who in Texas Teachers, as well as being admitted to the Rivercrest Teacher's Hall of Fame in 2005. Billie and Richard continued their involvement in the Rosalie and Bogata communities until Richard's passing in 2015. She maintained her support of the community until leaving due to health reasons in the summer of 2023. Billie was a long-standing member of the Methodist Church, Texas Teachers Association, and the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard Garrison, and her brother, Jack Russell Fryar. Billie is survived by her son Glenn and wife Dena, grandson Rusty and wife Keesha, granddaughter Mica, great-grandchildren Jasmine, Makenna and Wesley, and nephews Wayne and wife Linda, and Roger and wife Janet.

For all the love shown and help given to allow Billie to stay in her and Richard’s home after Richard’s passing, the family would like to give special thanks to "Team Billie"…Mary Belcher, Duanne & Martha Bryson, John & Larann Denison, Bernie & Jamie Huddleston, Micah Landers, and all the group of Lewis Home Health Care. Billie loved her home that they built and her community. Due to your love, she was allowed to stay there as long as possible...thank you so very much!

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be offered for the continued health of the Rosalie Community and surrounding area. Donations for the Community Center and VFD can be sent to Rosalie Community Center c/o Wanda Ragsdill, 9760 FM 909, Bogata, Texas 75417.
