Billie Ruth Landrum Pirtle, age 79 of Bogata died Monday April 4,2011 at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 7pm Thursday April 7 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Tollison officiating. Wood Funeral Homes of Bogata has charge of arrangements. Mrs Pirtle was born Feb 7,1932 in Deport the daughter of James Sterlon and Bertha Mae Chance Landrum. She married Kenneth E. Pirtle in 1956. He preceeded her in death March 13,1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mary Helen Whitney and a brother James Landrum. Billie attended Cuningham Schools, Paris Jr College and graduated from East Texas State Teachers College in 1953. She was a retired teacher/coach from Rivercrest ISD having taught there until her retirement in 1987. She was an avid sports fan, receiving the Athletic Booster award from Rivercrest in 2005 and was also inducted into the Rivercrest Hall of Fame in 2008. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bogata. She is survived by two daughters Kathy Miller and husband Ken of Commerce and Karen Hudson and husband Brad of Paris, three grandchildren Kati Miller of Fort Worth, Kami Miller of Paris and Brandon Hudson of Paris, one great grandson Lane Miller of Paris a sister in law Fredrika Hudson and husband David of Mt Pleasant, niece April Hudson, Peggy Risinger, Debby Clark and Tammy Landrum, nephews Johnny Whitney, Mark Hudson and Lance Hudsson and a special friend Bonnie Huddleston. Donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Rivercrest Educational Foundation, Bogata Cemetery Association or Charity of your choice.
