With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Carol Kay Horn, a beloved member of the Johntown community. Born on November 9, 1949, Carol left this world for Heaven on November 16, 2024.
Carol’s warm and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She had the unique gift for making everyone she encountered feel special. A devoted member of Johntown Missionary Baptist Church, she lovingly served alongside her brothers and sisters in Christ. Her nephews, nieces, and younger cousins were “her babies,” her pride and joy. Carol found great happiness in doing things for others, and her love for decorating made her shine during holidays and special events. The farm was her happy place, and she was a true hostess, always taking great care to make everyone feel welcome and cherished in her home.
Throughout her career in the medical field, Carol formed lifelong friendships and made a lasting impact. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Paris, Texas, for Dr. Reyes in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and finally for Dr. McKellar and Dr. Moore in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Her legacy of kindness and service will be remembered by all who were privileged to know her.
Carol is survived by her husband, Roger Horn; her brother, Ray Trotter; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Stephanie Horn; her sister-in-law, Darlene Hutchinson; and her beloved nieces and nephews: Ben Sewell, Graceanne Brim, Rubie Trotter, Mamie Trotter, Patrick Trotter, Adam Horn, Megan Hightower, Colby Horn, Blake Knight, Clay Hutchinson, Matt Speir, Freddy Lynn Booker, and Leslie Smith. She also leaves behind numerous great-nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Trotter; her sister-in-law, Diann Horn; and her special aunt, Judy Stewart.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Carol’s life will be held at Johntown Missionary Baptist Church on November 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, November 25, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood-Haggard Funeral Home in Bogata.
Carol’s kindness, warmth, and selfless spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace, knowing the profound impact she made on so many lives.
