Charles Weaver Skaggs, a beloved father and cherished member of the Bogata community, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, just days shy of his 83rd birthday. Born on October 21, 1942, in Fulbright, Texas, Charles lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a joyful spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
As the owner of Skaggs Wrecker and Parts Warehouse, Charles exemplified the hardworking American spirit. His passion for automobiles and mechanics was not just a job; it was an expression of his ingenuity and commitment to helping others in need. Known for his warm smile and generous heart, he served his customers with kindness and integrity, creating lasting friendships within the community.
An active member of the Fulbright Church of Christ, Charles played a significant role in the church's music ministry as a music leader, sharing his love for song and worship with others. He was also a valued member of the Bogata Lions Club, where he dedicated his time to service projects aimed at improving the lives of those around him.
Charles found immense joy in celebrating the holiday season with his beloved wife, Annette. Together, they would don their festive attire as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and ride in their Miata during the Bogata Christmas Parade, delighting the community and spreading cheer to all.
He is survived by his daughters Sherry Pullen and Anita Crocker; sons Charlie and Kim Skaggs, and Roy and Lane Skaggs as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His legacy will live on through their lives and the memories they share. Charles was preceded in death by: his wife, Annette Skaggs, parents, Doris and J. D. Skaggs, daughter, Teresa Elder, sister, Joan Phillips, great grandson, Izik Inman.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Melinda Mullin for the exceptional care she provided to Charles and Annette over the past year.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening at Wood-Haggard Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services for Charles will be held at the Fulbright Church of Christ at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 18, 2025, with ceremonies celebrating his life and contributions to the community. He will be laid to rest beside the love of his life, Annette, in Bogata Cemetery, Bogata, Texas, where they will rest in peace surrounded by the love they shared throughout their life.
As we remember Charles, we celebrate a man who embodied kindness, generosity, and a deep love for his family and community. His spirit will forever resonate in the lives he touched, and his joyful laughter will be greatly missed.
