Charles "Chuck" Young Obituary

Charles (Chuck) Lee Young, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on March 1, 1941, in Kennett, Missouri, to Robert Row and Gladys Irene (Milsap) Young. He passed away peacefully at the Mount Vernon House in Mount Vernon, Texas, on March 12, 2025, at the age of 84.

Chuck is survived by his devoted children: Charles Eric and his wife Pam, Rebecca Darlene and her husband RC Crane, and Tammy Renee Painter. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Megan and Lauren Sparks, Kerry and Johnathan Glasco, Micah Sparks, Jessie and Jordan Ross, Tessa and Kurtis Deal, and Aaliyah Painter, as well as his great-grandchildren, Skarlett and Everleigh. He will be deeply missed by his five brothers and four sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and his beloved grandson, Christian Deal.

In 1974, Chuck married Betty Jean Evans, and together they shared a beautiful 30-year journey. After retiring from the Air Force, where he served from 1967 to 1971 and achieved the rank of Sergeant, he adopted his son, Chuckie, and welcomed two more daughters into their family. Chuck dedicated his life to hard work and the land, with a varied career that spanned running a service station, selling cars, working at the post office, contributing to Lone Star Steel and the oilfield, and ultimately retiring as a truck driver for CFI. His commitment to providing for his family was unwavering.

Chuck’s hobbies reflected his zest for life. He proudly cheered on his grandchildren at sporting events, finding joy in every ball game he attended—he was a steadfast supporter to not only his family but also to other children who adored him as a grandfather. He loved fishing, painting, riding motorcycles, and even enjoyed exploring the outdoors as a metal detectorist. Above all, he found great joy in singing praises at church and sharing conversations on any topic, often engaging in spirited debates when he felt passionate about a subject.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the pavilion in Bogata Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Chuck’s life and legacy. Prior to the service, loved ones are invited to share memories and fellowship at the pavilion for one hour, beginning at 10:00 am.

As we remember Charles Lee Young, let us honor a life lived fully, characterized by love for family and friends and a deep joy for the everyday moments that make life cherished. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
