Dr. Miroslav J. Hanak, 86, passed away at his home in Commerce, Texas on Christmas day. Born in Plzen, Czechoslovakia on May 16, 1926, he received his B.A. from the University of Illinois, M.A. from the University of Southern California and Ph.D. from Universidad Central de Madrid, completed post-doctoral work at Freie Universitat in Berlin and receive an honorary doctorate from Charles University in Prague. He enjoyed a long career as a professor of Philosophy, Literature and Languages and was a prolific writer, researcher and translator with substantial publishing. He retired from teaching in 1994. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Hanak; daughters, Jennifer Hanak and Francesca Hanak; and stepchildren, Hans Koch, Jeff Koch and Carrie Koch. A private family gathering was held. No public service is planned.
