Don Richard Brock of Mount Pleasant, Texas, passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Ft. Worth, Texas, on May 15, 1938, Don lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by his loved ones.
Don grew up on a farm just outside of Ft. Worth where he learned his dedicated work ethic. He became a “Peddler” at the age of 12, selling fresh black-eyed peas and okra from the family farm. After graduating from Polytechnic High School, he began working for the Ft. Worth Star Telegram as District Distribution Manager. Feeling the call to serve his country, Don joined the Army National Guard and attended Air Traffic Control School and became Area Certified Air Traffic Controller in Louisiana. On February 17, 1962, Don married Betty Young Brock. Don soon attended Ft. Worth Technical Institute as a Tool Designer and immediately went to work for General Dynamics working as a Tool Planner and Designer for the F-111 fighter. In 1965 Don went to work for Womack-Ft. Worth and later transferred to Womack-Tulsa working as an outside salesman, hiring and training new salesman, and teaching hundreds of classes at Womack Fluid Power Schools.
Don loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Hunting was his passion, and he always seemed to have the patience to come away with the “big one”. He enjoyed visiting with people and taking a genuine interest in them. Don loved to solve problems and helping others with his wise advice.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Betty Brock, his son, Don R. Brock Jr., Don also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Kate Matthews, John and Michelle Brock, and Cole Brock, as well as his adored great-grandchild, Nora Jane Brock, and son-in-law, Kevin Matthews. Additionally, he is survived by his nephew Tommy Johnson and niece Dena Sue Moran. Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Dawn Matthews, parents, Clyde Brock, Effie Brock, sisters, Marie Brock Wicklander, and Nellive Johnson, and by a nephew, Barry Dean Johnson.
A celebration of Don's life will take place on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Cuthand Cemetery where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share stories of the joy he brought to those around him.
Don Richard Brock will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family. Rest in peace, Don, your legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
