Don Edward Guess of Bogata, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at his daughters home, after a three-year battle with cancer. He was born November 12, 1941, in the Rosalie Community just east of Bogata on the family farm.
Don was an equipment operator for Porterfield-Guess Construction where he was a top rated blade operator. He loved family gatherings, fishing, gardening, woodworking and building toys for kids. He built two timber frame houses from the ground up, both being 2-story homes, a mini-dozer from scrap metal and parts, and a tree house with an electric elevator for his granddaughter Sarah. If he could dream up something to build, he didn't give up until he got it done. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Bogata where he loved his Sunday School Class and all his fellow church members.
Don leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Torina and Jerry House of Bogata, Texas; granddaughter and the light of his life, Sarah House, also of Bogata; brothers, Roger Guess, George Ray Guess, and Gary Guess and his wife Ayesha all of Bogata, Texas; sisters, Betty Sue Watts and her husband James A., Mary Jo Porterfield of Bogata, Texas and Joyce Gibson and her husband Calvin of Woodland, Texas; sister-in-law, Bonnie Guess of Bogata, Texas; he also leaves special friend and son he never had, Sammy Sparger and his wife Christy of Bangs, Texas and their family, Zakry, Jacob, and Samantha; he also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
