Dorethia Ann Brodie of Holiday Lakes, Texas passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Jeanie Sealy UTMB hospital of Galveston, TX with her family by her side. She was born Dorethia Ann Cates on April 25, 1944 to the late Forrest Neil Cates and Lorenia Loretta Lou Groves in Vacaville, California.
Affectionally known as “Ann”, she retired from TDCJ in 2008 were she worked in the mailroom. Prior to that, she worked for United Way, Davis Air Conditioning and Heating, Noah's Ark day care, Kiddie Karousel day care and K-Mart.
Ann was a long-time resident of Holiday Lakes, Texas and member of Holiday Lakes Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, traveling and most of all, spending time with her family.
Ann is survived by her husband of 59 years Kenneth Lee Brodie. Her son Kenneth Mark Brodie and his wife Karen of Springdale, Washington and daughter Karen Lynn Oxley and her husband Joseph of Jasper, TX. Her grandchildren Amber Leigh, Patricia Lynn and Travis Lee. Her Great-grandchildren Joseph, Lainey, Kaleigha, Adelyn, Ja'Riya, and Branson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday March 9, 2020 at Wood Funeral Home Bogata. Interment will follow at the Bogata Cemetery. The Family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
