Edward Arnold Maddox, Sr., a lifelong free agent of Planet Earth, passed unexpectedly on April 16, 2020 at the age of 60.
Ed is survived by his children, Eddy Maddox, Jr., Jessica Barboza, Jennifer Maddox, and David Maddox; and his grandchildren, Edward Maddox, III, Shannon Maddox, Garren Barboza, Tre Maddox, Caydence Barboza, and Shirleyah Adams. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings.
Ed was born in Soap Lake, Washington on December 22, 1959 to Charles Sims and Anesthesia Topsidelis and later adopted by his aunt and uncle, Jesse Bert Maddox and Mamie Ophelia McDowell Maddox.
Anyone who met Ed would agree that he was one of the most eccentric people anyone could have encountered. He was a square peg in a world of round holes and was proud of it. Everyone who knew him would also agree that he never met a stranger. He made friends from all walks of life, everywhere he went. He was the kind of person who could carry on a conversation with literally anyone as if they were his oldest friend. He was a people person. He was a huge believer in total human autonomy and couldn’t stand the thought of being governed by any entity. He always said “I never met a mirror I didn’t wanna kiss.” Whether he was sporting only cutoff surfer shorts with dreads and a Gandolf beard, or he was clean cut wearing a 3 piece suit with turquoise snake skin wing tips, he was always certain he was the aesthetic envy of the room... you could not convince him otherwise. He was truly one-of-a-kind. He lived each day the way he wanted, even until his last breath where he passed while sleeping, the way he hoped he would. He will be immensely missed by all whom he loved.
In honor of his wishes, the family has chosen to forgo funeral services.
