Frederick “Rabbit” Dean Wisinger passed away November 9, 2022, at the Pleasant Springs Health Center in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He was born April 19, 1934, in Smackover, Arkansas to John and Mary Lee (Ewing) Wisinger. He married Joyce Abernathy of Clarksville, July 1, 1960, and resided in Red River County.
He began working in the family oil field in Arkansas and then Odessa Texas. He served in the army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. He spent many years as a truck driver, most notably for Cooper Butane Co and Lone Star Army Ammunition plant.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, meat cooker, fish fryer, and tall tale-teller of the highest rank. He even had a go at bull riding. Many hours have been spent listening to and sharing his stories.
He served terms as Commander VFW Post 8187 and cooked for the fundraisers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and his wife. Survivors are daughters, Melani Wisinger of Garland Texas, Dana Moore and husband, Rusty, of Coushatta Louisiana, grandson, Ethan McLendon and Sydney Earley of Deport Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Cuthand United Methodist Church located at county road 910 and spur 1487 in Red River County.
