Gladyies Tucker Obituary

Gladyies I. Black Tucker was born August 18, 1938 in McCrury Community to Joe and Lonny B. McDonald Black, and passed from this life on July 18, 2022. She was sister to Mary Joe Davis and Rosie Pearl Rhodes.

She married the love of her life, Clifford O. Tucker in Rockwall, Texas on December 11, 1956. She was the definition of the term helpmate. They raised four “hairy-headed” kids: Bobby Joe Tucker who preceded her in death on March 17, 2022, Sharlene and her “no-good son-in-law” Jerry Don Perry, Clifford Dale Tucker and “baby girl” Katie, and “The baby,” her favorite (right Momma?), George Allen Tucker, and her adopted son, “The Chosen One” Bryan Williams, along with Michael Tabb and Stacy Dodd, who brought more love and laughter to her life, as well as her coffee-drinking buddies. She was the best aunt to her nieces and nephews, and each one was her favorite.

Gladyies is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tammie and Len Stuart, Misti Joe and Jeff Ellis, Cassie Bland, Tiffany and David Garza, Keith and Carmen Perry, Justin and Maricyn Tucker, Dustin and Keely Perry and Ashley Horton; and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was as tough as nails and had a heart as big as Texas. Her favorite job was skidding logs with her mule Tom. She went to Respiratory Therapy School when she was fifty years old and worked for Red River General Hospital and ETMC in Mt. Vernon, Texas, where she retired the first time in 2002. She went back to work in 2004 for Dr. Kumar in Clarksville, Texas working until she was seventy-five. Retirement was her least favorite job.

The Keeper of Secrets and teller of dirty jokes, she will be greatly missed by family and friends, and will be remembered for the love and care she gave to all.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Bogata Missionary Baptist Church at 7:00 PM with visitation at 6:00 PM. Services are under the care of Wood-Haggard Funeral Home in Bogata, Texas.
