Jackie Couch Obituary

Jackie Dewane Couch was born in Bogata, Texas on October 18, 1941, to C.D. (Jack) and Ruth Harden Couch and his older brother Johnny, who Jackie referred to as “Donnie” all his life. He graduated from Bogata High School in 1960. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation in 1992, where he was a surveyor and in the field party. Jackie was a long-time member of Bogata First United Methodist Church and Rosalie Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and Order of Eastern Star.  He married Anita Dodd in 1960 in the home of M.J. and Edna Earl Dodd in Johntown. Three children, Tresa, Tommy and Trenton, were born to Jackie and Anita.

Jackie enjoyed looking for antiques and collectibles, and he learned to carve several wooden items. He also liked to read about history, guns, cowboys of the American West, and the Civil War.

He had many good friends throughout his life, in school, at work, church and Masonic Lodge, including two best friends, Don Roach and Charles Sistrunk, since the beginning of 1st grade.

Jackie is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John R. Couch, his grandparents, Charley and Mary Ann Couch, and Robert L. and Martha (Mattie) Harden. He is survived by his wife, Anita, his children, Tresa Couch of Johntown and Tommy Couch and Trenton Couch (Miranda) of Paris, Texas; grandchildren, Roxanne and husband, Jason Smith, Philip Couch and wife Mindy, and Ladona Couch; great grandchildren, Alexander, Dimitrios, Isaiah, Mariam, Serahphina, Ignatius, and Lucille Smith of O’Fallon, Illinois; Korie, Cordelia and Gaven Couch of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Sebastian Slagle and Sawyer Gifford of Paris, Texas; sister-in-law, Nina Couch of Welsh, LA.; brothers-in-law, Danny Dodd of Bogata and Jackie Lee Dodd of Gilmer, TX and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the Bogata Cemetery.
