James T. Smith

James T. Smith, age 72 of Deport, died at his home on February 15, 2012. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 2:30pm on Sunday at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be made in Hopewell Cemetery. Wood Funeral Homes have charge of the arrangements. He was born on May 18, 1939 in Red River County,Texas, the son of Thomas Edison and Annie Laura Richarson Smith. He was a US Army Veteran, serving as a Paratrooper. He was a retired Master Electrician and a long time member of the IBEW Union. He was also a member of the Deport American Legion Post 199. He is survived by his son, Andrew Smith of Hineville, Georgia; a daughter, Robin Barton of Westmoreland, TN; brothers Meton Smith of Dierks, Arkansas, sister, Betty Barber of Mesquite; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony James Smith on June 21, 2011.
