John Wiley “Johnny” Hudson, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, July 20, 2023. He was born August 1, 1947, to Henry and Mary Hudson.
He was a life long resident of Bogata, Texas where he never met a stranger, greeted all with a smile and a how are you.
Johnny attended Bogata School where he graduated in 1965. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. He was an avid lifetime member of the Bogata Rodeo Association.
Johnny was a member of the Double R Cowboy Church of Clarksville, Texas.
He married Deborah Spencer on October 6, 1972 and enjoyed 50 years of marriage and rodeo adventures. He worked at Texas New Mexico Power until his retirement in 1998 after which he would enjoy cowboying and roping. Through the years he enjoyed team roping, working cows, making routine rounds thru town and popping by to supervise others cow work. His greatest joys were watching his son Alan rope, his grandkids Keenan at the ball field and Aspen anything horseback.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Deborah Hudson; son, Alan, and wife Katha Hudson of Bogata, Texas; grandchildren, Keenan and Aspen Hudson; cousins, Sid Hudson and David Hudson of Mount Vernon, Texas, Linda Brown of St. Petersburg, Florida, John Lewis of Austin, Texas and an abundance of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, William Hal Hudson.
Services are under the direction of Wood-Haggard Funeral Services Bogata, scheduled for Sunday, July 23, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. with visitation at 1 P.M. at Double R Cowboy Church in Clarksville, Texas with Don Shovan, John Purviance, Mark Ritchey and Tracey Williams officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Bogata Cemetery in Bogata, Texas.
Named as pallbearers are: Cole Sheffield, Todd Denny, Neil Mankins, Vance Tyler, Dale Hines and Jeffery Don Bivins. Honorary pallbearers are Lindy Guest, Charley Lewis, Dennis Purviance, Neil Jumper, Jackie Gray, Johnny Ragsdill, Robert Kennedy, C Michael Williams, The Coffee Shop crew, Bogata Rodeo Association, the old Texas New Mexico Power crew and Men of the Double R Cowboy church.
