It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Lee Ragsdill, age 87, who departed this life on December 17, 2025. John was born on September 12, 1938, in Bogata, Texas, where he spent his life as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
A proud member of the community, John devoted many years of his life to Southwestern Bell Telephone, where he served as a foreman. He later worked for the Red River Water District. His diligence and commitment to his work were a testament to his character. Beyond his professional life, John was a steadfast member of the First Baptist Church of Bogata, where he served as a deacon, offering his wisdom and support to his church family and community.
John is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Wanda Ragsdill, who stood by his side through every season of life. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, John Ross Ragsdill and Vicki Ragsdill, and his cherished grandchildren: John Ragsdill, Kristin Armistead, Kelby Armistead, and Mika Armistead. He was also adored by his great-grandchildren: Abigail Ragsdill, Jaiden, Ayla, Demi, and Karson Armistead.
John will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, James and Jack Ragsdill, who shared countless memories of laughter and family ties.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie Ragsdill, siblings, William Ragsdill, Paul Ragsdill, Nancy Bowden, Martha Freeman, Cornelia Ragsdill.
In honoring John’s life, private services were held at the Bogata Cemetery Pavilion, where family gathered to celebrate his remarkable journey and the profound impact he had on all who knew him.
As we say our final goodbyes to John Lee Ragsdill, we are reminded of the warmth of his smile, the strength of his character, and the love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
