Major (RET) Raymond Dwight King passed away in Lawton, OK, on December 31, 2020 at the home of his son, Raymond Dwight King, Jr. He was a resident of Pattonville, Texas. The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 6th at 1 PM at McCrury Cemetery under the Pavilion. It is requested that all guests wear a mask.
Raymond was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 5, 1933 and raised in Clarksville. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1952 then enlisted in the Army on May 5, 1953. He served his country for 20 years including two tours in Vietnam earning numerous awards and medals to include Senior Aviator, Parachutist, the Bronze Star, Air Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. He was an aviator who not only flew both planes and helicopters but also taught many hundreds of future Army aviators how to fly. Other than his family, flying was his love.
He married Hiawatha Lue Webster of Clarksville, on December 21, 1953. She was truly the love of his life. They had just celebrated 67 years of marriage. In addition to his wife he is survived by their four children Raymond Dwight King, Jr, James Webster King, Raymona Lue King Bevel, and Victor Lynn King, as well as 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
