It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Novis Nell Stringer, who left this world peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on February 28, 1943, in San Augustine, Texas, Novis was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. She spent her life nurturing her family and creating a warm and welcoming home.
She and Wayne were married for 65 years. Her love and dedication to her Lord and family were evident in everything she did. It was her life experiences and the love she shared that truly defined her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne Stringer, and her children, Melinda and Randy Moore, and Brad and Monica Stringer. Novis was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren: Zack and Katie Stringer, Zane and Brianna Stringer, Chloe Stringer, Eli and Caitlyn Bobbitt, Ethan Bobbitt, Eion Bobbitt, and Eva Bobbitt. Her great grandchildren, Carter and Will Stringer, Isabella Stringer, Saylor, Sedona, Ezra and Beau Bobbitt. In addition to her immediate family, she is mourned by her siblings: J.W. and Cynthia Hanks, Wilma McMillan, Betty and Charles Collum, and Reta Doyen. Novis was preceded in death by her parents, J. P. and Effie Hanks, a son, Patrick Stringer, great granddaughter, Paisley Stringer and by her siblings, John Hanks, and Margie Snyder.
Novis for the last 20 years was a faithful co-worker with Wayne and the Philippine Mission Development. Novis’ natural grace, warmth, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her steadfast love, unwavering support, and the countless memories shared with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held in honor of Novis on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Austin Chapel Baptist Church in DeKalb. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time. Novis will be laid to rest Wednesday at the Dickerson Cemetery in San Augustine at 1:00 PM. The family invites friends to the fellowship hall following the committal service to reflect on her cherished spirit and the deep love within her family. We invite all who knew and loved her to join in celebrating her remarkable life and to pay their respects to a truly special woman.
