It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved member of the community, Roy “Speedy” Glenn Wells. Born on June 11, 1939, in Sugar Hill, Texas, Roy passed away on October 16, 2024, in Clarksville, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones.
Roy's dedication to his country was evident through his honorable service in the United States Navy. Upon his return home, he embarked on a rewarding career as a heavy equipment operator in the oil fields, leaving a lasting impact in the industry. Post his oil field days, Roy transitioned to working on farms and ranches, making a significant mark, most notably with Reagan Bell and Robert Cranfield.
Recognized throughout northeast Texas, Roy was a beacon of kindness, perhaps even showing you the ropes of roller skating at "Cowboy Denny's" skating rink in Bogata. His warm smile and cheerful spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Roy will be dearly missed by his surviving relatives, including his sister Mary Ann Potter, his brother Kenneth Wells, and numerous nieces and nephews. His memory will forever be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Annie and Roy Wells, his brothers, William, James and Roy Joe, Jr. and his sisters, Opal Williams and Linda Inman.
In honor of Roy's life, a Funeral Service will be held at the Wood-Haggard Funeral Home in Bogata on October 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 6:00 pm, where friends and acquaintances can pay their respects.
Roy will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Bridges Chapel Cemetery in Titus County in a burial ceremony that will serve as a final tribute to a man who touched the lives of many with his kindness and dedication. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
