Sam Porter Wright

Sam Porter Wright, 92, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at his home in Blossom, Texas. A time of visitation with the family will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2023, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at Wood-Haggard Funeral Home in Deport, Texas. There will be no service at this time.

Sam was born to Obe Wright and Gladys Lindsey Wright in Red River County, Texas on August 29, 1930.

Sam served in the United States Army before going into work for Westinghouse, and then Uarco for thirty-seven years.

He loved working with his cows, and looked forward to starting the day with breakfast with his son Jack to plan which fields and crops were to be worked that day.

His parents and his son, Obe Wright, Jr, preceded Sam in death. He is survived by his son, Jack Glenn Wright and wife Paula of Blossom, Texas; and sister, Wanda Sally Howerton of Wills Point, Texas.
