Sammy Joe Ward, age 75, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at his home in Bogata, Texas, where he was a lifelong resident. He was born December 16, 1944 in Bogata, son to James William “Bill” Ward, and Isabelle Van Hawkins.

He was a rancher and farmer, who loved his family, his friends, and his neighbors.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jo Ann King, and husband J.D. of Amity, Arkansas; son, Jason Ward, and girlfriend Lisa Essary of Paris, Texas; grandchildren, Lyndsey and Alex Mota, Laryn Hanes, and Brittney Simons; great-grandchildren, Isabella Rose Mota and Kayelynn Simons; and first cousin Sarah Ragsdill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol Ann Ward; and brother, Richard Ward.

The family requests that memorials be made to Bogata Cemetery.
