Shirley Ann Allums

Shirley Ann Allums, a long-time resident of the Johntown area, died peacefully on Tuesday the 23rd of June at her home.

She was born August 14, 1938 in Johntown, Texas to Travis and Roberta (Boyd) Watts.

Shirley was a LVN for 26 years. She was a Volunteer at the Bogata Library, a member of the Methodist Women’s Group, a singer in the Methodist Church Choir, and a member of the 42 Club. Shirley loved to travel and was very adventurous. Fishing and swimming were some of her favorite pastimes, as was spending time with her family. And, if your were lucky, you would catch her singing “The Old Grey Mare” while she was doing these things.

She is survived by her daughter Teresa Alford and husband Ray; her son Monte Allums and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Lori Baskin and husband Buck, Byron Alford and wife Paula, Krisha Rosson and husband Josh, Ben Coulter and wife Erica, and Mark Allums; great-grandchildren, Jeri Rethford, Jerilyn Baskin, Maxie, Audrey and Michael Alford, Tristan and Avery Rosson, Emma and Corbin Coulter; brother Nelson and wife Carolyn Watts, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Marcus Allums and her parents.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Wood-Haggard Chapel in Bogata, Texas. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 AM.
