Shirley Jane (Couch) Vickers

Shirley Jane Vickers of Bogata, Texas passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 77 years of age.  She was born January 26, 1943 in Pineville, Louisiana to Norman and Ida Jane (Smith) Couch.

Shirley was a hard worker all her life which found expression in her many loves and interests such as cooking, canning, Cajun food, Elvis, the Lion’s Club (serving several years as secretary) The Food Pantry, Bogata Missionary Baptist Church and many others. Her greatest love though, her family; she genuinely loved and delighted in them. Family times were favorite times.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Vickers; children, Richard and wife Diana Vickers of Queen Creek, Arizona, Joe and wife Lisa Vickers of Frankston, Texas, Jimmy and wife Jay Vickers of Bogata, Texas, Anita and husband Art Bianchina of Longview, Texas and Cathy and husband Robert Bolin of Pattonville, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Couch of Paris, Texas, Herman Couch of Lubbock, Texas, Ricky Couch of Bonham, Texas; sisters, Dorothy Mathena of Paris, Texas and Judy Scott of Bogata, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Norman Lee Couch and sister Ruby Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Bogata Missionary Baptist Church, with visitation one-hour prior. Services under the direction of Wood-Haggard Funeral Homes.
